| Faith, Hope and Love And now faith, hope and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. ~I Corinthians 13:13 The theme for the CPC 2012 stewardship campaign is "Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is love", which is based on I Corinthians 13:13. It reflects our excitement about the ways in which the members and friends of Claremont Presbyterian Church serve with Faith today, are stepping into tomorrow with Hope and are moving forward with Love for all God’s creation. These ideals help to cultivate generosity as a spiritual discipline. We give because being generous transforms us and helps shape us into the people God is calling us to be. We give because generosity changes us and changes the world.
Year End Giving - A Special Opportunity Current economic conditions have already required many of us to "go the extra mile," as we strive to fulfill our 2010 CPC pledges and to pledge generously to CPC for 2011. If you are in this group, thank you for your support! For some, however, 2010 may have been a year of unexpected financial good news. If this is true for you, please consider making a special year-end gift to CPC, so that we may close our 2010 books on a positive note. A special gift of this type may be unrestricted or may be designated to support a particular aspect of our Church’s programs and outreach that is especially meaningful to you. If you’d like to know more, please speak to Karen, Rocky, or any member of our Committee – we’d be happy to help. You might think of this as a Christmas present from you to CPC, for all that it means to you and to each of us. An added bonus: gifts made by December 31 may help reduce your 2010 income taxes – a win/win situation! Thank you. ~The CPC Special Gifts and Endowment Committee A Gift for you, with thanks from the Stewardship Committee 2011 Stewardship Luncheon Salad Serves 12 1 16 ounce package dried black beans, washed, picked over, soaked overnight & drained (or 3 cans) 1 red or green bell pepper, chopped 2 cups grated Jack cheese ½ cup chopped green onions 3 hard boiled eggs, chopped 2 cups sweet corn 1 cup uncooked brown rice 2 cups diced tomatoes 1/3 cup cilantro (optional) Dressing: ½ cup lemon juice, ½ Tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon (or up to 1 Tablespoon) ground cumin, ½ teaspoon minced garlic, ½ teaspoon ground pepper, ½ teaspoon salt, ¾ cup oil (half olive oil, half vegetable oil). The Loaves and Fishes Society The Special Gifts and Endowment Committee is pleased to announce the establishment of the Loaves and Fishes Society, the bequest program at Claremont Presbyterian Church.
For the past several years, the Committee has worked to make this program a reality. The Loaves and Fishes Society draws its inspiration from John 6:9, the multiplication of individual gifts to sustain multitudes.
A brochure explaining the mission of the Society is being mailed each February to CPC members and friends. The brochure provides general information on estate planning and the importance of including CPC in your plans. It also describes the differences between bequest gifts, which serve long-range needs, and our annual pledges, which support the daily operating budget of the Church.
If you did not receive your copy of the brochure, please pick one up in the Church office. It is intended to be a ready reference and guide for your future use.
Please contact any member of the Committee if you have questions or would like additional information.

| Stock Donations Giving of our time, talents, and treasures is essential to the life of CPC. There are so many ways to give by voluteering to teach Sunday School, singing in the choir, working in our local missions, or simply being there to lend a hand when the sanctuary gets decorated. Pledging part of your income also helps to staff the church, fund the church programs, and allows CPC to contribute to the many missions of the PC USA around the world. Sometimes contributing appreciated assets like stocks and bonds to the CPC is a more practical means of giving rather than cash. Stocks and Bonds contributed to CPC's account get sold immediately on the day of the transfer and the money is made available to the church as soon as the transaction is complete. At the link below is a sample document to initiate a stock transfer to CPC. Once the documet is filled in with the number of shares and date of transfer it should be sent to the broker who is holding the shares: Call the CPC Sewardship Chair if you have questions regarding this type of giving. Third Annual Bequest Emphasis Sunday The Special Gifts and Endowment Committee is pleased to announce CPC’s Third Annual Bequest Emphasis Sunday, to take place on June 20. During the service on that day, a presentation will be given to illustrate the importance of making special gifts to CPC, over and above our annual pledges for the operating budget. These special gifts can be made during lifetime or through our estates and can direct support to a particular part of CPC’s program and outreach or can be left unrestricted. In either case, such gifts further enrich our spiritual life here at CPC and our ministry to a needy world. At the service on June 20, we will recognize the twenty-nine people who, to date, constitute the members of our Loaves and Fishes Society. This is the bequest society of CPC and is sponsored by the Special Gifts and Endowment Committee. The Loaves and Fishes Society draws its inspiration from John 6:9, the multiplication of the loaves and fishes to sustain the multitudes. Everyone who includes CPC in his or her estate plan is entitled to membership in the Society. If you have taken this important step and have not yet notified us, please inform one of the Pastors, any member of the Committee, or Jo Colclough in the Church office – we want to add you to our membership rolls! For more information, please pick up a copy of our Loaves and Fishes Society brochure on the patio on Sunday morning or in the Church office. The brochure provides the names of the Committee members.
